Should Ms A spill the ‘proverbial’ beans regarding her husband’s lover?

No – In the eyes of her husband, both Ms A and the marriage are in a slightly weaker position than that of the lover. Spilling the beans, so to speak, may not only cause him to lose his job (which may happen anyway), but it will be highly disruptive and do nothing to strengthen her marriage.

Situation – Ms A is not pleased with Mr A. He has been seeing Ms C on the side for several years. As we’ve seen from earlier posts, Ms C has a fiery temper, certainly hot enough to get her into trouble. Ms C has the option during 2016-17 to keep her cool and if she can ‘play nice’, she might achieve her objectives, but she hasn’t. Instead she’s chosen to harass Ms A publicly and Ms A wishes to know whether by telling various authorities about the poor behaviour of Ms C, she might permanently sideline Ms C and hence get on with her marriage.

Ms A sideline Ms C

  • Ms A is the querent, hence because Capricorn is rising, she is symbolized by Saturn at 9 Sag, which is not particularly weak or strong. Hence although Ms A is holding all the action cards in this chart (i.e.stellium in  the 8th house, the house representing injuries, probing, investigation, penetration), she is not personally in a great position.
  • Mr A is the partner of Ms A and hence because Cancer is on the 7th house cusp, both he and their marriage, are represented by the Moon in Pisces. Although not particularly weak or strong, the Moon is slightly elevated being in its (mixed) Dorothean Triplicity (water).
  • Ms C, being the love interest of Mr A is represented by his 5th house (or the 11th house of the chart) with Scorpio on the cusp. Hence Ms C is symbolized by Mars in Sagittarius. Ms C is equally neither weak or strong, being neither in fall, exaltation, rulership, triplicity, term, nor face.
  • Interestingly, the last aspect made by the Moon (Mr A and the marriage) is a conjunction with Neptune. Although it is not technically accurate to use modern planets in horary considerations, it does give some indication of the degree of Mr A’s overall illusion and confusion. He is definitely not coming to any of this from a position of strength.
  • The first aspect of the Moon  in this chart was to form a square to Mars suggesting that initial, Mr A was at odds – fed up – with Ms C. But then the next aspect made by the Moon is a square with Saturn, suggesting that Mr A has recently become equally at odds with Ms A and his marriage.
  • Again using the modern planets, there is a hint that at the time this question was asked, Mr A is leaning towards Ms C. This is because she is represented by Scorpio (his 5th house cusp) and Pluto is the modern ruler of Scorpio. The Moon and Pluto are about to make a harmonious sextile.
  •  Ms A is holding all the cards in this chart –  i.e. as noted above, her 8th house is choker-block with potential action; Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter. But such action  will play out as (confrontational) oppositions to the Moon (Mr A). This is not likely to endear him to his wife if in any way he is able to blame her for these difficulties.
  • After the Moon perfects its sextile with Pluto, it goes on to make it’s first opposition – i.e. with Venus. Because Taurus is on the cusp of Mr A’s 10th house (4th house in this chart), Venus represents his job and professional status. Venus in Virgo is in fall, and hence is in damaged, debilitated condition. In other words, Mr A is already not in a strong position vis a vis his job and it is possible that within 3 weeks (or 3 months) = i.e. 3 degrees to perfection of the opposition – he might separate from it regardless.
  • But because Uranus (apologies for using yet another modern planet) is in a very tight quincunx aspect to Mercury (communication), such revelation such as Ms A is considering (i.e. a change of to the status quo can engage action by quincunx) could cause Mr A to separate from his job in a highly disruptive way (Uranus suggesting the disruption). At the very least, such communication as anticipated by Ms A could prove much more disruptive than she might otherwise have thought.
  • The final aspect to be made by the Moon is an opposition to Jupiter, suggesting some hard luck for Mr A (in 11 weeks or 11 months time). Because the  stellium of action,  falls in his 2nd house, money/finances will be the prime area hit. Although much of this will come to pass without action by Ms A, any actions taken by her can only make it all the more disruptive and unpleasant (not to mention with Uranus involved, a bit of a shock). But none of this will do anything to strengthen the marriage  or the position of Ms A – both being represented by Saturn which will make no beneficial aspects to the Moon.

This is the end of the matter.

Executive Summary

Ptolemy identified six levels of fame/success depending on the location and condition of Sun and Moon and their ‘attendants. Unfortunately, although both Donald Trump’s ‘luminaries’ are in masculine signs, neither they nor their ‘attendants’ are particUnknownularly strong. Indeed, the strongest, Mars, is in own terms and hence promotes only violence. Jupiter does what it can mainly by helping Trump achieve a high social profile because of women. Overall this leaves Donald Trump as the level of ‘undistinguished’ and although he may be rich, he will never attain a real leadership role such as president.

imagesPtolemy’s Basics

Ptolemy identified six levels of fame/success:

1.Kings and Prince

Both luminaries in masculine signs and at least one of them to be found in an angle. This alone is pretty good. However – as well, they (both) be attended by a doryphory (including rays) composed of all five planets – then this is REAL GOOD. In addition, this rank is helped if the planets in the doryphories are also in the angles or configured with the MC.

2.Chieftain

The Sun only masculine with the Moon feminine and only one of them in an angle. If both, however, have good doryphories as described above, then the person will reach chieftain level, with the power to judge life and death. NOTE – a good doryphory has benefics in good shape or on angles (or ruling them).

3.Governor or Commander

If the natal chart has the luminaries as for a Chieftain but the doryphories do not involve the angles, these people will not be invested with sovereignty, but will reach eminence.

4.Civil Leader

If neither of the luminaries be in the angles, but both have good doryphories which are in the angles or ruling the angles, they will have a leadership role in their community. Councilor, President of a club, Mayor of a small town and so on.

5.Undistinguished

If neither luminary is in an angle (Sun still masculine and Moon feminine), and the attending planets are not involved with the angles by placement or ruler-ship, then the person will lead a humble life.

6.Lowest Level

If neither luminary be found in a masculine sign, nor in an angle, nor attended by any benefics they will live lives of “quiet desperation” and obscurity.

Analysis of Trumpdonald trump

How does Donald Trump stack up?

  • With Sun at 22 Gemini 56 and the Moon at 21 Sagittarius 12, both luminaries are in masculine signs. Yet neither is on an angle and neither is in rulership or exalted. The Sun is dignified by face but not by term and the Moon benefits from neither. With Leo rising, the Sun is the chart ruler. Good but could be better.
  • Doryphory is an interesting technique focusing on the ‘retinue’ of helpers either of the two lights or luminaries (i.e. sun or moon) have in their ‘train’. The more planets in the retinue, the more helpers and if, additionally, those helpers are themselves strong the more help they can give. Imagine yourself a feudal lord trying to raise an army to fight a foe – the stronger and richer the neighbors (i.e. able to raise their own armies) you have supporting your cause, the more likely you are to succeed.
  • Note that when considering if a planet throws a ‘ray’ into the doryphory, benefics (Moon, Venus, Jupiter, Mercury, and the Sun) can only do so by sextile or trine and the malefics (Saturn and Mars) can only do so by opposition or square.
  • Because the Sun’s retinue PRECEDES him, to determine Trump’s solar doryphory, we look at planets either in Gemini (23-30) and Cancer:
    • Mercury in Cancer – neither dignified nor exalted and succedent (not angular)
    • Saturn in Cancer – in detriment (damaged) and succedent (not angular)
    • Venus in Cancer – neither dignified nor exalted and succedent (not angular)
  • Because the Moon’s doryphory FOLLOWS her, to determine Trump’s lunar doryphory, we look at planets either in Sagittarius (1-20) and Scorpio.
    • Mars in Leo casts a ray into Scorpio by square – Mars not only is angular but is dignified by face and term. But Mars is a malefic and so instead of helping the Moon, it is likely to give trouble. Mars here is out of sect (the Sun is above the horizon and Mars is a nocturnal planet) and hence causes damage to the father and the father’s line. Mars in the terms of Mars suggests that Trump will be exalted and glorified in the way of the ‘sword’ – aggressive at times violent – he will have enemies and will die violently.
    • Jupiter in Libra casts a ray into Sagittarius by sextile – Although not angular, Jupiter is dignified by triplicity and term and because it is a benefic can help the Moon. Jupiter is also in reception to the Moon (the Moon is in Sagittarius, a sign ruled by Jupiter) and so happily gives all that it can in service to the Moon. Trump’s Jupiter in Libra (succedent in the 2nd house) is in sect (the Sun is above the horizon and Jupiter is a diurnal planet) and in fairly good shape – and hence should be expected to bring riches and happiness linked with glory. It will also help Trump receive benefits from woman and he may even have a high social profile because of women.
  • A solar doryphory of three planets isn’t really bad but neither of the two benefics (Mercury/Venus) is dignified in any way and the malefic (Saturn) although in sect, is badly damaged. Overall, this doesn’t give the Sun much in the way of strong helpers.
  • A lunar doryphory of just two planets is not so good but at least they have some dignity albeit neither are angular. Jupiter in Libra gives all that it can to the Moon which comes as the result of benefits received from women. Mars only creates trouble.

Conclusion

Overall, this probably leaves Trump as ‘undistinguished’. Although both luminaries are in masculine signs, neither is involved in the angles. Although the Moon has a small doryphory, at least Jupiter has something worthwhile to give. But Mars, the stronger of the two because it is on an angle, is not only a malefic by nature but also in its own terms and hence only promotes violence. Even if we were to give Trump the benefit of the doubt and bump him up one to Civil Leader, this is not the stuff of which leaders of any nation are made. Hence we cannot expect him to ever become president.

With the Sun in Leo (hot/dry) and the Moon in Libra (hot/wet), it’s a Choleric/Sanguine couple of days.

As you will recall, humoural theory is based on the ancient and medieval physiology and medicine as expounded by Empedocles, Hippocrates, and Galen – it’s all to do with the four block or ‘roots’ of the material world that manifest in certain humours and their related temperaments:

ELEMENT QUALITY HUMOUR TEMPERAMENT
Fire Hot/dry Yellow Bile Choleric
Earth Cold/dry Black Bile Melancholic
Water Cold/wet Phlegm Phlegmatic
Air Hot/wet Blood Sanguine

Choleric energy is characterised as commanding and aggressive. It is a time of energetic enthusiasm that may lead to impulsive ‘hot-headedness’. But it’s also characterised by a friendly atmosphere of generosity that can help to smooth over any cracks. Add to that the sympathetic kindness and understanding of the Sanguine influence and we can expect a rather pleasant, albeit lively, couple of days.Unknown

This makes perfect sense when we remember that Leo and Libra are in a comfortable sextile (60 degree) aspect to each other. In psychological astrology, the sextile aspect is  linked to opportunities – perhaps because of associations with open communication and rational discourse.

This makes the today and tomorrow an excellent time to seize the moment and sort out difficulties. As long as you’re actively seeking to understand viewpoints other than your own, you can expect real success.

With the Sun in Cancer (cold/wet) and the Moon in Virgo (cold/dry), its Phlegmatic/Melancholic couple of days.

As you will recall, humoural theory is based on the ancient and medieval physiology and medicine as expounded by Empedocles, Hippocrates, and Galen – it’s all to do with the four block or ‘roots’ of the material world that manifest in certain humours and their related temperaments:

You may also recall that we experienced Phlegmatic/Melancholic energy earlier this month (1 July) when the Moon was in Capricorn; that energy was unpleasantly sobering, rather like a cold shower. That was because Saturn rules Capricorn and he isn’t known for being jolly. Indeed Saturn is usually cautiously ambitious to a fault.

MercuryBut this time the energy will be different because Mercury rules Virgo and he brings a much lighter energy to bear. In classical mythology, Mercury is the trickster god and hence like the Fool card in the tarot, has no fixed agenda. Indeed his is a spontaneous approach to life and although he rushes in where angels may fear to tread, he is usually successful. This is because whilst like Saturn he has developed significant wisdom, unlike Saturn, he isn’t overly cautious. Mercury isn’t remotely as self-focused as is Saturn and hence doesn’t envision life as an ego-trip.

Hence the energy today is still reserved and serious but not inflexible. The best way to handle this is to lighten up a bit – that makes it easier to see where you’re headed.

ob1840With the Sun in Cancer (cold/wet) and the Moon in Leo (hot/dry), its Phlegmatic/Choleric couple of days.

You may also recall that we also had Phlegmatic/Choleric energy earlier (29 June) but that was with the Moon in Sagittarius; the energy was dreamy – but not lazy – sluggish but still merry. That was because Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter (exalted in and happy with Cancer) whose job it is to bring not only wealth but also inspiration to our lives.

Now the Moon is in Leo and this Phlegmatic/Choleric energy is characterised by the planetary cycles inherent between the sun and moon. This is because Cancer is ruled by the Moon and Leo, is ruled by the Sun. But their relationship is reversed (the Moon rules Cancer but is now in Leo and the Sun rules Leo but is in Cancer).

Cancer takes the back seat = faithful, stable, lethargic, conservative.

Leo  takes the front seat = boasting, enthusiastic, generous, impatient.

This makes the energy of today and tomorrow much more like that of Choleric/Phlegmatic which is both hardy and impassioned.

Some key words for this energy include:

  • Determined
  • Assertive
  • Touchy
  • Impulsive

Case Study for Ms Y who is going through a sustained bad patch. She needs to find the best way to navigate these uncomfortably choppy waters and hence has asked for advice.Unknown

Directing by triplicity gives a quick and easy thumbnail sketch of your entire life.

The idea is to look at the main luminary and it’s three classical triplicity rules (by element) and examine not only their ‘condition’ use classical rules but also the areas of life they govern; the 1st triplicity ruler governs the first 1/3 of your life, the 2nd triplicity ruler governs the second 1/3 of your life and of course the 3rd triplicity ruler governs the final 1/3 of your life. There are no hard and fast rules regarding when one moves from one life phase to another but generally the first transition occurs around aged 30 years and the last transition about aged 60 years.

Summary

It is likely that Ms Y is struggling as to how to exercise her authority and this may well be part of what underlies her current angst. Despite ‘management hype’ to the contrary, she needs to realise that ‘warm and fuzzy’ is not really her thing. Instead if she remains at all times ‘sober’ and ‘honest’, then there is good reason to believe that both she and anyone over whom she had authority will benefit. Beware ‘secret knowledge’ which (let’s face it), management always has. She should avoid being too authoritarian however, as this may seriously damage her reputation.

Analysis

Because she was born during the day, her Sun in Taurus is her main luminary. Because Taurus is astrological earth, her three triplicity rulers are: Venus, Moon, Mars.

Because Ms Y is now in the 2nd 1/3 of her life, the governing triplicity ruler is her Moon at 14 Aquarius in her 4th house. As the primary purpose of the astrological Moon is to bring the emotional connectedness we all need to survive, this Moon struggles. Because Aquarius is an air sign, Ms Y relates to others primarily through ideas and ideals and whilst this may appeal to some, others are likely to find Ms Y lacking in emotional warmth. So although Aquarius is neither a good nor bad sign for the Moon, it is uncomfortable in that this moon has always remains detached and in these days where ‘warm and fuzzy’ relationships are prized, this may put Ms Y at a disadvantage.

The Moon of Ms Y is in the ‘terms’ of Jupiter and this gives her significant authority over others. But because her Moon is at square (difficult) aspect with Jupiter in her own chart, she may struggle as to how to exercise that authority and this may well be part of what underlies her current angst.

In classical astrology, the leadership skills of Ms Y are denoted by her Mars because this planet rules the 2nd decan of her 10th house (itself a water house as Cancer is on the 10th house cusp). Her Mars is at 1 Leo (out of Sect) conjunct Saturn (at 28 Cancer) also in the 10th house. Because this Mars is in Leo, it is fiery and because it angular, it is forceful and because of its associations with Saturn, doubly so.

According to Bonatti’s Liber Hermetis, this Mars/Saturn has potentially dangerous implications for the reputation of Ms Y in regards to her profession because it is associated with prisons’ and/or ‘hostages’. This might suggest that others view her leadership skills as too traditional and/or authoritarian. That Saturn in Cancer is in ‘detriment’ (opposite Capricorn where it is exalted) suggests a good way to avoid is for for Ms Y to take an alternative approach.

How that might be achieved might be illustrated by looking to Mercury in Gemini’, with whom Mars makes a close sextile (easier) aspect. Mercury at 1 Gemini is one of the strongest, happiest planets in Ms Y’s chart. Not only is it in its sign of rulership but also in its own terms. According to Bonatti’s Liber Hermetis this suggests that Ms Y will not only have ‘rank’ but will ‘share in secret knowledge’. Not only that but she is ‘very honest and sober’.

Whilst we’d like to think that all management folk are ‘honest’ and ‘sober’, that would be naïve. However to the extent that Ms Y is, both she and those that she’s leading will likely really benefit. Because her Mars at 1 Leo is in the terms of Jupiter, Bonatti’s Liber Hermetis suggests that Ms Y will be ‘honoured with government and will work with exalted people’.

In other words, she has what it takes to be an excellent leader and with transitting Saturn exactly trine her natal Saturn, she’s in a good, stable position to put into place whatever changes she determines are needed especially in regards to exercising her authority. Warm and fuzzy is not really her thing. Instead if she remains at all times ‘sober’ and ‘honest’, she and anyone over whom she had authority will benefit. Beware ‘secret knowledge’ (which let’s face it, management always has). This however may always be a point of considerable personal concern for Ms Y – does she share it or not?  This will always likely be an issue with which she struggles.

imagesWith both the Sun and Moon in Cancer (cold/wet) it’s going to be a Phlegmatic couple of days until the new Moon at 26 CA 14 on the 16th of July, 1:25 AM, GMT.

Earlier (27 June), we had another Phegmatic couple of days when the Sun was in Cancer and the Moon in Scorpio. But because Mars is the classical ruler of Scorpio, that time was characterised by getting bogged down by your feelings.

This time its going to be different.

This is because whilst Mars imparts a martial or war-like atmosphere and hence a feeling of being at odds with one’s feelings, the Moon in Cancer is in its sign of rulership. Hence it is more than capable of supporting your feelings – indeed it enhances them in a good way.

All this is making way for that new moon which symbolises a time to plant seeds for the future, to open the door to the energy  you need to pull into your life to make it all happen.

The new moon in Cancer is a good time to commit to those personal goals that not only honour your deepest, most intimate feelings but also support your personal security and safety.

From now until that new moon, you have a opportunity to get ready.
