Case Study for Ms Y – Directing by Triplicity

Case Study for Ms Y who is going through a sustained bad patch. She needs to find the best way to navigate these uncomfortably choppy waters and hence has asked for advice.Unknown

Directing by triplicity gives a quick and easy thumbnail sketch of your entire life.

The idea is to look at the main luminary and it’s three classical triplicity rules (by element) and examine not only their ‘condition’ use classical rules but also the areas of life they govern; the 1st triplicity ruler governs the first 1/3 of your life, the 2nd triplicity ruler governs the second 1/3 of your life and of course the 3rd triplicity ruler governs the final 1/3 of your life. There are no hard and fast rules regarding when one moves from one life phase to another but generally the first transition occurs around aged 30 years and the last transition about aged 60 years.

Summary

It is likely that Ms Y is struggling as to how to exercise her authority and this may well be part of what underlies her current angst. Despite ‘management hype’ to the contrary, she needs to realise that ‘warm and fuzzy’ is not really her thing. Instead if she remains at all times ‘sober’ and ‘honest’, then there is good reason to believe that both she and anyone over whom she had authority will benefit. Beware ‘secret knowledge’ which (let’s face it), management always has. She should avoid being too authoritarian however, as this may seriously damage her reputation.

Analysis

Because she was born during the day, her Sun in Taurus is her main luminary. Because Taurus is astrological earth, her three triplicity rulers are: Venus, Moon, Mars.

Because Ms Y is now in the 2nd 1/3 of her life, the governing triplicity ruler is her Moon at 14 Aquarius in her 4th house. As the primary purpose of the astrological Moon is to bring the emotional connectedness we all need to survive, this Moon struggles. Because Aquarius is an air sign, Ms Y relates to others primarily through ideas and ideals and whilst this may appeal to some, others are likely to find Ms Y lacking in emotional warmth. So although Aquarius is neither a good nor bad sign for the Moon, it is uncomfortable in that this moon has always remains detached and in these days where ‘warm and fuzzy’ relationships are prized, this may put Ms Y at a disadvantage.

The Moon of Ms Y is in the ‘terms’ of Jupiter and this gives her significant authority over others. But because her Moon is at square (difficult) aspect with Jupiter in her own chart, she may struggle as to how to exercise that authority and this may well be part of what underlies her current angst.

In classical astrology, the leadership skills of Ms Y are denoted by her Mars because this planet rules the 2nd decan of her 10th house (itself a water house as Cancer is on the 10th house cusp). Her Mars is at 1 Leo (out of Sect) conjunct Saturn (at 28 Cancer) also in the 10th house. Because this Mars is in Leo, it is fiery and because it angular, it is forceful and because of its associations with Saturn, doubly so.

According to Bonatti’s Liber Hermetis, this Mars/Saturn has potentially dangerous implications for the reputation of Ms Y in regards to her profession because it is associated with prisons’ and/or ‘hostages’. This might suggest that others view her leadership skills as too traditional and/or authoritarian. That Saturn in Cancer is in ‘detriment’ (opposite Capricorn where it is exalted) suggests a good way to avoid is for for Ms Y to take an alternative approach.

How that might be achieved might be illustrated by looking to Mercury in Gemini’, with whom Mars makes a close sextile (easier) aspect. Mercury at 1 Gemini is one of the strongest, happiest planets in Ms Y’s chart. Not only is it in its sign of rulership but also in its own terms. According to Bonatti’s Liber Hermetis this suggests that Ms Y will not only have ‘rank’ but will ‘share in secret knowledge’. Not only that but she is ‘very honest and sober’.

Whilst we’d like to think that all management folk are ‘honest’ and ‘sober’, that would be naïve. However to the extent that Ms Y is, both she and those that she’s leading will likely really benefit. Because her Mars at 1 Leo is in the terms of Jupiter, Bonatti’s Liber Hermetis suggests that Ms Y will be ‘honoured with government and will work with exalted people’.

In other words, she has what it takes to be an excellent leader and with transitting Saturn exactly trine her natal Saturn, she’s in a good, stable position to put into place whatever changes she determines are needed especially in regards to exercising her authority. Warm and fuzzy is not really her thing. Instead if she remains at all times ‘sober’ and ‘honest’, she and anyone over whom she had authority will benefit. Beware ‘secret knowledge’ (which let’s face it, management always has). This however may always be a point of considerable personal concern for Ms Y – does she share it or not?  This will always likely be an issue with which she struggles.

One response to “Case Study for Ms Y – Directing by Triplicity”

  1. […] Directing by Triplicity – In the original chart, the current period of SH’s life would have been ruled by Saturn which, as we have seen, is reasonably well-placed even if prone to being too critical. In the original chart, Saturn conjuncts the Midheaven, which would have given SH a better than average chance to manifest her fondest ambitions. However, with the new chart, this phase of SH’s life is ruled by the Moon in Virgo which (because it is conjunct to Saturn) as we have seen is prone to gloom and doom, caution and oversensitivy to criticism.
